Exemption

EXEMPTION OBJECTIVE:

 The Exemption Policy provides student's prior learning on programs, courses or subjects recognized by the Board of Studies for full or partial recognition by the College.
 The Board of Studies consist of industrial representatives & responsible for the effective administration & policy implementation of the Diploma course curriculum. It ensures that the requirements of the programs are efficiently met by TVET through the College.
 EXEMPTION AUTHORITY
 The Exemption Authority is the Board of Studies. There are to Board of Studies. One for Business Studies & the other for Tourism Hospitality. The College does not provide exemptions for prior learning but simply implement the decisions of the Board of Studies. Exemption is provided for prior learning if the course content of the previous program learnt correlates in substance with the program/course/subject offered by the college.
   THE ADMINISTRATION FUNCTION
 The Technical Vocational Education & Training Division of Department of Education provides the administrative function for the board of studies through the Principal Curriculum Officer - Business Studies 7 Allied Trades, Senior Officers for Business & Tourism and Hospitality.
  OBTAINING THE EXEMPTIONS
 Exemption can be awarded in two ways:
  1.   Challenging the examinations.
The candidates can request to challenge the examinations papers or selected papers of the previous course of studies for the college which he ought to pass with a 75% pass mark.
  2.     Apply for Exemptions
 The candidates must use the prescribed form to apply for exemption from the board of studies. The applicant must provide a fully endorsed transcript, certification awarded and the full course content to the Executive Officer for a program audit purpose. A decision would be made after the audit is thoroughly carried out. The audit must be done thoroughly to uphold standards of the course & to ensure that the course does comply with TVET course requirements, from content, teaching methodology, equipments, assessments,& teaching staff.
 The Executive Officer will inform the College & the student of the Board of Studies decision in writing. In the absence of this, the student must attend all training sessions as a course requirement or forfeit attending the course. The Board's decision must not be preempted unless advised so by the Executive Officer to allow this to happen.
  Full/Partial Exemption
 The Board according  to their audit will award Full/Partial Exemption to the student.
 APPEAL & RE-SUBMISSION OF APPLICANT
 The Board's decision is final. However, if the student wish that some reasons haven't given due considerations, he can re-submit his application pointing this & if there are fresh information that he would like considered for his case. Such fresh information must be credible for the case to be taken up again for considerations or do not waste Board's time on considering trivial issues.
 THE IMPLEMENTATION AGENCIES

The college (s) are the implementing Agencies and would comply very closely with the decision of the Board of the Studies (BOS).
